PASTIME Program
Westgate Charities is pleased to be partnering with several area schools this spring to offer PASTIME, (Promoting Academic Success Through Increase Mental-Health Education) a 6-week in-school program that promotes academic success by stressing the importance of mental health, nutrition, and exercise using research-based curricula. Students enrolled in the program will develop fundamental knowledge about how the brain functions, how to keep it healthy through exercise and nutrition, and how to communicate effectively about their mental health.
Westgate’s WOW Program
Physical Fitness is a major part of mental health. Exercise improves mental health by reducing anxiety, depression, and negative mood and by improving self-esteem and cognitive function.2 Exercise has also been found to alleviate symptoms such as low self-esteem and social withdrawal.
