The Westgate Initiative

Engagement

The access to mental health services is a critical variable that ultimately affects the entire family. Westgate Charities aims to bridge the current gap between children challenged by parental mental illness and service providers by serving as a conduit of information. In pursuit of this objective this website will serve as an online directory of mental health services across Tennessee.

Education

A child’s educational performance may suffer in multiple areas due to  parental mental illness. Westgate Charities aims to generate funds to support the continuity of education for children affected by these challenges through educational grants.

Empowerment

Currently there are no facilities that provide year round support or counseling specifically for children coping with the struggles of parental mental illness in the state of Tennessee. Westgate Charities aims to establish supporting resources in each county in the state of Tennessee by the year 2020.

In order to obtain this goal Westgate Charities will develop, demonstrate, and disseminate a curriculum centered on the specific needs of children whose parents are mental health service consumers.

WestGate Charities Aims to:

  • Provide support across the state of Tennessee and throughout Washington, D.C. by the end of 2020.
  • Serve as a liaison between families and schools.
  • Serve as a conduit of information between service providers and those in need.
